Susan L. Howick has devoted her extensive legal career to resolving business disputes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation. Susan has provided legal assistance to a host of lenders, credit unions and businesses with commercial disputes, real estate litigation and creditors rights matters. Susan also served for several years as a special master in condemnation matters and has represented the landowner or lender in a number of large condemnation matters.
Susan taught civil procedure at the National Center for Paralegal Training and has served as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law in its research and writing program. In addition, Susan has served as a lecturer for several litigation-related continuing legal education courses in the areas of discovery, ethics, and real property litigation. She has been named a “Super Lawyer” in Business Litigation three times and designated “Georgia Legal Elite” by Georgia Trend Magazine in the fields of Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights, most recently in 2016. Susan is rated “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, a reflection of the high regard in which other legal professionals hold her legal skills and ethics.
In 2017, Susan joined her husband, Lloyd, and son, Alexander at Hoffspiegel Law. In addition to putting her litigation experience to work for the firm’s personal injury clients, Susan will continue to represent small businesses and individuals in commercial disputes, including debtor/creditor matters, landlord/tenant disputes, condemnation cases and other business litigation matters.
Susan is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, and has served on the Executive Board of the Georgia Practice and Trial Section. She is also a past President of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, and former Editor of Calendar Call Magazine (a publication of the General Practice and Trial Section of the State Bar of Georgia).
